It’s 1988. Julie is comfortable with her day-to-day life. She lives alone, works an ordinary 9-5, and strives not to stand out in a crowd. When she receives news that her estranged father has completed suicide, she appears unchanged. But when her younger brother Patrick, who seemed to have disappeared from her life, appears in her car one morning asking for a ride across the country to the funeral, things get complicated as the two recount and come to terms with what their lives have been so far. How many of their grievances are to blame on their father? And can they bring themselves to forgive a dead man?
There are references to the American AIDS epidemic and include (trigger warning) subjects of drug use, violence, and talk of suicide.
